The Elegance of the Mediterranean Reverie Collection in a Historic Houston Inn
The Marlene (@themarlene_htx), a historic Inn right in the heart of Houston’s Montrose neighborhood, reveals a refined and unexpected interior vision. Designed by Lily (@lilysvintagefinds) and Helene Chastain Dellocono (@helenedelloconodesigns), and captured through the lens of Julie Soefer (@juliesoefer), this project showcases how wallpaper can redefine a space — even where it is least expected.
By combining Coquillage Stripe on the walls with Marbré de Venise applied to the ceiling, the designers created a unique atmosphere that blends heritage, character, and modern boldness. This project perfectly illustrates how wallpaper can elevate a bedroom and transform a bathroom ceiling into a true design statement.
The challenge: adding character while breaking traditional design codes
The objective was clear: bring personality and depth to the rooms while respecting the historic soul of the building. In the bedroom, the goal was to create a warm and distinctive ambiance without overwhelming the space.
In the bathroom, the designers chose to go further — introducing wallpaper on the ceiling to break traditional design codes. This bold decision transforms the space, drawing the eye upward and creating a more immersive and intimate experience.
The result is a perfect balance between sophistication and creativity, where each surface contributes to the overall design narrative.

Focus on the designs: Coquillage Stripe & Marbré de Venise
Coquillage Stripe brings rhythm and elegance to the walls. Its refined striped pattern, inspired by Mediterranean motifs, structures the room while maintaining a light and timeless feel. It enhances the architecture without overpowering it, making it ideal for both bedrooms and boutique interiors.
On the ceiling, Marbré de Venise introduces a completely different dimension. Its marbled effect evokes the richness of Italian palaces and classical interiors. Applied overhead, it transforms the ceiling into a decorative surface in its own right — adding depth, movement, and a sense of quiet luxury.
Together, these two designs create a dialogue between structure and fluidity, tradition and reinterpretation.

The Isidore Leroy expertise behind the project
This project highlights the craftsmanship and heritage of Isidore Leroy. Each wallpaper is made in France, combining historical savoir-faire with contemporary design.
The designs are part of the “Mediterranean Reverie” collection by Centered by Design, created by Chicago-based interior designer Claire Staszak. Inspired by European interiors from Venice to Antibes, the collection reflects a deep appreciation for architectural heritage and timeless elegance.
Through this collaboration, Isidore Leroy brings a fresh perspective to classic decorative codes, offering wallpapers that are both expressive and refined.
