NON-WOVEN WALLPAPER, VINYL, PVC-FREE... HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT TYPE OF PAPER?

After being neglected, sometimes even shunned for a few years, wallpaper is now a must-have in interior design. You are ready to sublimate your space, you found the model which corresponds to your desires but you do not know which type of paper to choose? There are many options: non-woven wallpaper, vinyl wallpaper, classic wallpaper ... We propose in this article to discover the different media to make your choice.

WHAT ARE YOUR NEEDS?

Wallpapers and panoramic decors are available on different supports and it is sometimes difficult to find your way. First of all, it is important to ask yourself the right questions and to know your needs. Indeed, each room has its own preferred support!

Are you going to cover the wall of a dining room that will be little used, or the one of a kitchen or a bathroom? Depending on the use, your wallpaper will have to be more or less resistant to humidity and shocks.

THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF WALLPAPER

THE CLASSIC WALLPAPER

It is a layer of paper, single or double, on which is printed the design. Some supports can be made from recycled paper and will have the advantage of being ecological. The installation is recommended for people who are used to putting up wallpaper, because the glue must be applied to the paper before proceeding with the installation.

The wallpapers on classic support will be more economical but also more fragile and can not be cleaned. This support is rather adapted for not wet rooms and very little frequented.

NON-WOVEN WALLPAPER

The non-woven or non-woven is a mixture of textile fibers, generally natural and synthetic. This composition gives it the advantage of being breathable. The humidity of the glue will evaporate, and molds will have less chance to form: the wall breathes.

More resistant than a traditional wallpaper, this support also has the advantage of being easy to install: no need to glue the strips beforehand, we apply the glue directly on the wall to cover. It will also be easier to remove because it can be torn off dry. It seduces by its matt finish and its ease of maintenance: it is a support that can be washed gently.

Finally, this support has a good stability, that is to say that the strips neither contract during drying nor expand because of the humidity of the glue. This avoids open joints and makes it easy to put the wallpaper on any type of wall: for example high walls or even ceilings!

VINYL WALLPAPER

The vinyls are covered with a PVC plastic layer, which makes them air and moisture proof. For example, to decorate the wall in a kitchen, this support is ideal. This support is also more resistant to shocks.

The advantage of this support is the ease of maintenance and the ease of installation. Like the non-woven support, the wall is glued directly. Depending on the model, the finish can be smooth or expanded to bring a nice relief to your wall.

HIGH PERFORMANCE CONTRACT (HPC) REINFORCED WALLPAPER

Presenting the same characteristics as a vinyl wallpaper, this support has the advantage of being without PVC what confers him an ecological quality. It is a paper easy to maintain because it is washable and will be ideal to dress the wet rooms of the house such as the kitchen or the bathroom for example.

It is also easy to install: the adhesive is applied directly to the wall to be covered.

Although it is not plastic, its characteristics allow it to meet the most demanding standards of the hotel, restaurant and service industries.
